ABOUT THE LION’S DEN

 Inspired to Impact

Birthed out of the vision of our Founder, Dr. Jason Jackson, The Lion’s Den Missions Base (TLD) is driven by seeing ALL people fulfill their talents and gifts. TLD leaders and volunteers demonstrate compassion and sensitivity in the face of human adversity and life challenges. TLD has an aggressive goal of training and coordinating teams to deploy material and human resources and support throughout Continental US and abroad.

To reach this goal, we enlist the service of gifted individuals, from all walks of life who are willing to be trained and mobilized in service to others. Wherever you live, whatever your background the Lion’s Den Missions Base welcomes your talent. We use our vast network of government relationships, para-ministries and non-profit partners to overcome geographical hurdles. In short, once trained we will find a place where your gifts and talents may thrive.

OVERVIEW

The lessons needed to produce a fierce, skillful, community-focused warrior, was the inspiration taken from the current popular movie Marvel Comics “BLACK PANTHER”. The focus of this project is to move from mere inspiration to concrete reality.

We are driven to improve the emotional health and functionality of high school students through innovative methods, while implementing curriculum specifically designed to target necessary life skills and core competencies. This project provides a service/learning curriculum and the implementation of entertaining, prevention-oriented activities to support and enable the transition to true adulthood, citizenship and leadership.

STUDENTS’ VOICE

In March 2018, The Lion’s Den Mission Base, located in Broward County, FL, interviewed and counseled many student survivors and their family members, who were directly affected by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shootings in Parkland, FL. In counseling interviews through TLD’s Crisis Counseling and Inner Healing Initiative, students specifically expressed areas of need that were deemed problematic for their generation, to include:

Lack of moral direction

Lack of mentoring

Lack of problem solving skills

Lack of emotional support

Feelings of hopelessness

The results and recommendations of the survivors, indicate deficits that must be addressed for children to effectively make the transition to responsible and productive adulthood.

OBJECTIVES

To focus on identified preventive skills and competencies.

To provide curriculum to close the gaps in producing effective citizens.

To mold mentally fit, emotionally empowered leaders who will train others to lead.

Provide ongoing mentoring by trained mentors in meeting life challenges, through setting and achieving personal goals.

To craft a sustainable infrastructure that supports emotional growth by connecting education, industry and community for healthy decision making.

Evaluate students’ perceptions of their life skills and competencies before and after participation in the targeted developmental curriculum and leadership activities.

To determine the project’s viability as a vehicle for producing empowered citizens statewide, regionally and/or nationwide.

Our youth are expressly asking:

Is there anyone who truly cares about us, the next generation, posterity?

Is there anyone who can carve out a little time from their busy schedule to show us the difference between Light and darkness?

The answer:

Yes, we will!

The most effective way to assure the future is to create opportunities to impart personal, social and spiritual values. The Cathy Batton Organization structures, directs and implements projects that provide for meaningful acquisition of leadership skills to make a significant impact in setting a culture of nurturance, inspiration, innovation and positive change.
